The Coach Foundation partners with Pensole Lewis College to provide opportunities for underrepresented young fashion designers at Coach

DETROIT, MI /ACCESSWIRE/February 2, 2023/ Tapestry, Inc.:

Pensole Lewis College (PLC), in partnership with the Coach Foundation, today announced the launch of the Dream It Real x PLC Coach Masterclass, a new six-week virtual program for aspiring accessory and footwear designers who Remove socio-economic barriers for traditionally underserved people. communities and communities of color by offering them a unique curriculum within Coach’s design studio in New York. The masterclass is inspired by the Coach Foundation’s Dream It Real initiative and its mission to create opportunity and break down barriers for the next generation who have the courage to dream it.

“Coach is an iconic and legendary brand in American fashion, known for its timeless style and enduring quality,” said PLC Founder and Chairman Dr. D’Wayne Edwards. “This masterclass was created to create a community of creative talent who may one day become part of Coach’s design team. Our goal with this program is to provide Coach with talented and diverse designers who will bring new perspectives to a brand already esteemed.”

The program will feature up to 10 aspiring designers, whose tuition will be covered by the Coach Foundation, who will participate in an accelerated six-week online masterclass in accessory and footwear design from March 6 to March 14. April, with final and in-person presentations. mentorship at Coach’s New York headquarters on April 21. Students will each create a capsule collection of Coach-branded shoes and accessories, with an emphasis on sustainability using leftover Coach materials in an effort to help reduce waste.

Over the six weeks, students will be exposed to a variety of personal and professional development lessons to help prepare them for a career in design.

Students will receive weekly instruction, but the program will operate more like a design studio. This format allows students to experience what it is like to work for a brand while developing their time management, professionalism and leadership skills. Teaching areas include:

Upon completion of the masterclass, all students will receive a Coach Completion Certificate by PLC.

The class is open to black and brown students, ages 18 and older, worldwide.
