“On behalf of the Babydoll Beauty Couture team, we announce with regret, with great pain, the passing of the founder and owner of Babydoll Beauty Couture, the legendary Jamie Lopez,” read an Instagram post from her team.
The statement continued: โWe ask, on behalf of the Babydoll family, that you allow time for us to process this tremendous loss. Further details and arrangements will be announced shortly. Lounge receptionist Astra Marie, nicknamed “Funky Chunky,” reacted to the loss via her Instagram Story. “My babydoll is gone ๐,” she wrote alongside the initial announcement of Lopez’s death.

1. Lopez was losing weight
At My super big living room, Jamie has openly discussed his weight. At her largest, she was bedridden and weighed over 840 pounds. She was also hospitalized for a year and had to undergo physical therapy to be able to walk again. Lopez’s weight loss journey was driven by her desire to see her business succeed.
“I’m thriving on my health journey,” she said during the first episode. “I’m really determined to get to a point where it’s not a vanity at all. I want to be comfortable enough to run my business and take it to the next level without depending so much on others. It’s a journey and a process and something I work on daily.

2. Lopez was a singer
His first EP, Queenwas released on October 7. “Hey Dolls ๐My Very First EP Dropped Today!! Queen๐! Music ๐ต is my first love! And allowed me to go through very difficult times and breakups!! Huge Thanks!! to everyone who made this project possible,” she said via Instagram.

3. Lopez worked hard
She told the shimmer in April 2019 that she held several jobs in online sales, music production and as an Uber driver.
“It’s my dream and I’m not going to give it up. I put my life and everything into it โ sacrifice, blood, sweat, tears, everything. Financially it’s a huge investment, but right now , I feel like it’s go big or go home,” she explained at the time.

4. Lopez wrote a book
big big lies, published in November 2021, was Lopez’s memoir that detailed her struggle to accept herself and take control of her weight after being bedridden. In September, she was thrilled to see her book on Amazon’s Top 100 Tracks.
“I’m literally in tears right now!!” Lopez wrote via Instagram at the time. “I couldn’t be more grateful for your support on my new book #bigfatlies Thanks to you, I made it to the #amazon top 100 list!! 5. Lopez wanted everyone to feel beautiful.
“It makes me cry when people say that,” she told the shimmer when asked about critics who claimed she was promoting unhealthy choices. “If I have to lose weight, I will lose weight, but I will always need a place to go to get my nails done. Should I stop this because I’m fat? People need a safe space and I will give them what they need.”
