Keeping your skin hydrated is one of the best ways to combat dryness during the winter months, and according to skincare expert Scott McGlynn, a good moisturizer doesn’t have to break the bank. Scott, who is host of Celebrity Skin Talk, shared his top five affordable moisturizer recommendations for winter with his Instagram following of 266,000.
He explained, “Face moisturizers are very important and these are the ones I recommend to keep your skin hydrated.” Scott’s most expensive recommendation is Lano’s Basic Face Day Cream with Vitamin E, which sells for £20. “It’s very juicy, very thick, I love it,” he said. “I also use it for my lips.”
Her next recommendation is Elf’s Holy Hydration Face Cream which sells for £12 on Beauty Bay. According to Scott, the fragrance-free cream is “literally very affordable.”
The moisturizer is described as a “lightweight” option that “helps nourish and plump the skin while providing long-lasting hydration.” Elf moisturizer is a great all-around option because it can be used in the morning and after cleansing in the evening.

For products under £10, Scott recommends Revolution Skincare Ceramides Moisturizing Lotion which costs £9.00. Scott said: “It can also be used all over the body, not just the face. I really like this product. I’ve been using it for a few months now and my skin feels great.”
Revolution Skincare’s Ceramide Hydrating Lotion is vegan and cruelty-free and contains hyaluronic acid which works to retain water in the skin for a hydrating effect.
Although the Revolution moisturizer is an affordable option, Scott has also revealed two of his must-have products which both cost less than £5. Primark’s Nourishing Facial Moisturizer is a £4 purse and provides a ‘hydration boost’ for your face.
Scott said: “This Primark, a very rich and thick moisturizer, is what the skin needs.”

Alternatively, he recommends his ‘trusty friend’ Cien Q10 Anti-Wrinkle Day Cream from Lidl, which costs just £1.49. Previously speaking to Express.co.uk about his experience using the low cost cream, Scott said: “I recently tested Lidl Cein RRP £1.49 cream and I’m not disappointed, I can really feel the hydration, and my skin feels fresh and glowing after using it.
“I did a test using this cream against a £69.00 cream and found it did the same job. In fact the Lidl cream went further and my skin felt more hydrated.”
Scott’s recommendations were backed by his viewers who shared their own experiences using some of the moisturizers. BBC presenter Ionica commented on Scott’s video saying, “The Q10 is my friend! Love this one.” [SIC]
