National Silk Museum of China opens new fashion exhibition in Hangzhou, reflecting the development of Chinese fashion design over the past 30 years

HANGZHOU, China, January 12, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — The National Silk Museum of China presents a new exhibition – “Fashion All Beings: Thirty Years of Chinese Fashion Design” – from December 30, 2022 to February 19, 2023 in Hangzhou. It is jointly organized by the museum alongside the Association of Chinese Fashion Designers and the Clothing College of Zhejiang Sci-Tech University.

Featuring the works of China’s International Young Fashion Designers Competition winner and emerging designers who have risen to the international fashion scene, fashion magazines and periodicals, and academic fashion experts, the exhibition features the changes that have taken place and the development of Chinese fashion design. over the past three decades.

Considering the development of modern Chinese fashion design, 1993 was a pivotal year. In May 1993the first china international apparel and accessories fair (CHIC) was held in beijing, China’s first international young fashion designers competition “Brother Cup” was successfully held, and the China Fashion Designers Association was also established in that year. On the second day of the opening of the CHIC exhibition, the then president Jiang Zemin met world famous fashion designers, including Valentino, Gianfranco Ferré and Pierre Cardinwho showed the world China commitment to modern fashion design and advancements in the fashion industry in China at the time. In addition, designers, entrepreneurs, education circles and the fashion media in China make their voices heard on the international stage for the first time, making 1993 a symbolic moment for the Chinese fashion industry.

Divided into four sections: “The Ambition of Young Designers”, “Chinese Design on the International Stage”, “The Media’s View of Fashion” and “The Light of Fashion’s Educational Dreams”, the exhibition shows not only the overall development of China contemporary fashion design, fashion media and fashion education, but also the changes of contemporary Chinese culture from a fashion point of view.
