Kate Middleton could make two big style changes when she becomes queen

Kate, Princess of Wales’ wardrobe is already fit for a queen, filled with the most beautiful dresses and jewelry imaginable. But there may be some changes she needs to make when she and William take over from Charles and Camilla. Personal stylist and image coach Melissa Lund spoke exclusively to Express.co.uk about how Princess Kate could change her style to become queen.

Melissa told Express.co.uk: “I think Kate’s look has gotten more majestic every year.

“I like that because at first, when she got engaged to Prince William, I didn’t think her wardrobe was really fashionable – too High Street, not enough designer.”

Now that Kate’s wardrobe is filled to the brim with Alexander McQueen, Jenny Packham, Burberry and Emilia Wickstead, she probably won’t need a complete style overhaul when she takes on her new role as queen consort.

Melissa continued: “Her shoe choices are definitely better these days and she’s been spotted wearing Gianvito Rossi rather than LK Bennett – much more stylish and more comfortable.”

According to the expert, there are only a few changes she could make regarding her personal style as she steps into her new role.

Melissa predicted that Kate might become a fan of brighter and bolder pieces as well as hats, which Queen Elizabeth II favored during her reign, but other than that stick to her current fashion hacks.

She said: “I don’t think she will have to make any major changes to her current uniform if she becomes queen.

“She usually wears a tailored coat dress or a blazer with tailored pants, sometimes a tailored pantsuit.

“Obviously the fit has to be impeccable and she may decide to opt for more vibrant colors.”

The late queen opted for bright colors rather than more bland shades so she could be spotted in a crowd.

In the documentary, The Queen at 90, Sophie Wessex explained: “She needs to stand out so people can say ‘I saw the Queen’.

“Remember, when she shows up somewhere, the crowd is two, three, four, 10, 15 deep, and someone wants to be able to say they saw a piece of the Queen’s hat in passing.”

At the moment, Kate sometimes favors bright colors and was recently spotted in a neon green dress by Solace London.

However, she will occasionally opt for neutrals, having been outfitted in a head-to-toe camel last month during a visit to Scarborough with William.

Along with opting for brighter colors, Kate’s signature hairstyle may need to change.

The princess is almost always spotted with her hair down and loves loose curls.

However, Melissa predicted that might have to change when she transitions from princess to queen.

She told Express.co.uk: ‘Maybe I can plan for more hats in the future, she may have to style her hair differently to work with the hat.’

These changes aside, “Kate’s look is perfectly suited for any royal duties she might need as Queen.”

She also struck the perfect balance between regal and “relatable” by “very successfully recycling her designer outfits.”
