With Ash Ketchum and Pikachu Pokemon journey finally over, a number of interesting theories began to surface. The most talked about is the new female protagonist, Riko, who the franchise has chosen to put in the spotlight.
A number of fans are convinced that this new girl is Ash’s daughter. While there are heated debates about the identity of his mother, people are sure that his father is none other than the world champion, Ash Ketchum.
is the new Pokemon anime featuring Ash Ketchum’s daughter?
Did Ash have a child?
With the series having drawn the curtain on its most iconic character, it’s time for a new face to grace the stage and continue the journey. And there can’t be a better candidate for that than someone from the next generation.
This new generation comes in the form of Riko. Many are convinced that Ash Ketchum married years later and had Riko.
But that’s where the rift comes in. Riko has similar characteristics to almost every female character seen in anime so far. She resembles Serena, given her striking blue eyes, and shares the same voice actor as Ash, which is Rika Matsumoto, the name being a nod to Riko.
She also has similarities to the other ladies introduced throughout the Pokemon series. When looked at closely, Riko sports a hairstyle quite similar to May’s – her hair has a blue tone, much like Dawn, and her outfit is very similar to what Misty wears.
As for his resemblance to Ash, the biggest is his hair clip matching the Pokemon League symbol on his original hat.
For now, questions about Riko’s parentage remain unanswered as the franchise remains under wraps. Fans will have to wait until 2023 to find out if she’s actually Ash’s daughter or if she’s a completely different person and the franchise’s newest protagonist.
Pokemon bids farewell to Ash Ketchum after 25 years
With the introduction of new faces, Riko and Roy, came the announcement of Ash and Pikachu’s final moments as the anime’s protagonists. Starting January 13, 2023, the iconic duo will get a fitting farewell with a final 11 episodes featuring characters like Brock and Misty.
Prior to this major announcement, speculation and rumors abounded just as Pokemon Journeys came to its conclusion. Ash winning the world title was undoubtedly a big milestone, but it also subtly signaled the end of the road for him and his partner.
Speculation was highest when the titles of the final two episodes were announced. Following this, shortly after the anime ended, the franchise confirmed Ash’s departure as the protagonist and announced a new series.
The new series will debut in April 2023, where the anime will transition to a new storyline featuring Riko and Roy’s journey through the Scarlet and Purple Paldea region.
