Baldur’s Gate 3 Reveals Final Patch for Early Access, Adds Paladin Class and Level 5

Larian Studios reveals the Paladin class for Baldur’s Gate 3 alongside a non-binary gender identity and more in the new Patch 9 live stream.


However Baldur’s Gate 3 confidently looking ahead to its August 2023 release window, players will receive one final content patch for its Early Access featuring Paladins, a myriad of new spells, and more. When the new Baldur’s Gate 3 The trailer debuted at The Game Awards, its veteran players only had one thing on their mind: the realization that Jaheira and Minsc might return as companions for one last adventure on the Sword Coast. Although Minsc has been confirmed by Larian Studios as the party ranger, the recent Baldur’s Gate 3 livestream finally clarified that Minsc and Jaheira could be potential companions or adversaries for the game’s protagonist.

This panel from hell, as Larian dubbed it, went on to unveil a plethora of other additions to the game, citing Patch 9 as the final content update for the early access of Baldur’s Gate 3. Along with implementing new hairstyle and face options for the main character, players will also be able to assume a non-binary gender identity in Baldur’s Gate 3. Additionally, Patch 9 will see the introduction of the long-awaited paladin class to the game, as the Baldur’s Gate 3 livestream gave his holy warrior the righteous beginnings he demanded.

Larian Studios then revealed that the final patch for Baldur’s Gate 3Early Access is already live, and players can experience all of the livestream’s announced options and additions first-hand. The level cap for Early Access is raised to level 5, which is important for many Baldur’s Gate 3 classes such as Fighter or Wizard, whose abilities only really open up past level 4. The reaction system is also getting an overhaul with the new patch, allowing players to customize the moment where it will come into effect on a case-by-case basis.

Lost in the middle of all the excitement is the fact that Baldur’s Gate 3 players who wanted to make their Tav half-orc or dragonborn will have to wait for launch. In addition, several subclasses are still registered for Baldur’s Gate 3like Champion Fighter, Assassin Rogue, War Cleric and even the whole Monk class. Although Larian Studios has confirmed that all races and classes from the Player’s Handbook will be coming to the game, it’s a little disappointing that some players will have to wait until August to try out these options.

With Jaheira and Minsc back at Baldur’s Gateand the recent trailer hinting at the Dead Three’s heavy involvement in the game’s storyline, Baldur’s Gate 3 promises to be a true sequel to the formidable legacy of its predecessors.
