JOINT BASE ANDREWS, Md., January 12, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — As its name suggests, Armed Forces Entertainment (AFE) has deep roots in bringing entertainment to US service members overseas. During World War II, they provided field operations and support to the efforts of the United Services Organization (USO), then as its own agency of the Department of Defense from 1951. Their legacy of creating uplifting entertainment shows continues today. In 2022, AFE reached nearly 400,000 service members worldwide at 355 remote military installations through 85 tours and 510 one-on-one shows.
“In times of conflict or peace, AFE’s mission is simple: to provide military personnel serving overseas, particularly those in remote or emergency locations, some time off and entertainment, whether through comedy, music, magic or sports,” said Brian BurkAFE Marketing & Business Analyst.
Simultaneous AFE visits take place in different regions, including EuropeMediterranean, Pacific, Southwest Asia and the Western Hemisphere.
It is in these remote and remote stations that AFE has found its niche. “While AFE coordinates a variety of entertainment around the world where American military personnel live and work, our mission is to support our service members in remote locations, primarily during hard-to-reach and little-visited emergency operations. “, Burke said.
The impact of bringing a touch of home through entertainment is AFE’s goal. A service member recently remarked, “Love, love, love this! You have no idea what this means to service members serving all over the world,” referring to his experience during a show featuring music rapper Lecrae.
AFE tours travel to every corner of the world with unique shows intended to entertain US troops deployed in each region, knowing that each installation has its own personality and preferences.
Musical performances and concerts feature a capella, rock, pop, country, disco, instrumental contests and more. comedians such as Daniel Dugar, Adam Devin and George Wallace, regulars of the AFE, bring lightness to the scenes of the AFE. And elite athletes from soccer, volleyball, soccer, basketball, hockey, football and cheerleading bring their skills to share in family clinics.
The National Football League sends game greats for lively talks and clinics, including AFE’s upcoming Super Sunday tour featuring Bernard BerrienBobby Charpentier, Brandon Carr, Dexter McClusterDarren McFadden and Bryant McKinnie in February 2023.
“We are always on the lookout for new talent as well as outstanding and experienced performers who want to share their gifts with our military,” Burke added.
Burke said performers have as much fun putting on shows as audience members. “Giving back to the armed forces and hopefully making their day a little brighter and bringing a little piece of home back is what inspires us,” Devine said. His sentiment is repeated over and over again by AFE artists.
