All Characters Revealed So Far

fans of the tekken franchise were treated to a whole new tekken 8 trailer at The Game Awards 2022. The sequence, which was just under two minutes long, was a mix of cutscenes and gameplay, and it confirmed the return of several well-known fighters to the tekken 8 listing. Returning familiar faces include Paul Phoenix, Marshall Law, King, Jack-8, Lars Alexandersson, and perhaps most surprisingly, Jun Kazama.

Along with revealing more playable characters, the trailer also sheds light on story elements for the first time. It appears to show Jin suffering defeat at the hands of his father Kazuya, before being rescued and rehabilitated by none other than Jun Kazama, Jin’s long-considered-dead mother, who has not been seen in the canon story. tekken timeline since his presumed disappearance at the hands of Ogre during the events leading up to Tekken 3. Disregard the non-canonical Tekken Tag games, 2023 marks 27 incredible years since she played a pivotal role in tekken 2the events defining the series.

Tekken 8 brings back some familiar faces

Aside from Jun’s return as a playable character, which series director Katsuhiro Harada confirmed in a recent interview, the five other characters revealed in the trailer should come as no surprise to fans of the series. Paul Phoenix and Marshall Law are series veterans who have starred in almost every game on the tekken franchise. The trailer shows Paul sporting an all-new hairstyle, seemingly replacing his classic flat-top style with a shorter cut, his blonde hair draped over his face as he unleashes a powerful attack on an opponent.

Marshall Law, who has been featured as a playable character in every mainline tekken game, except tekken 3 when he was briefly replaced by his son Forest, he is shown with an incredibly ripped physique and uses the nunchaku to inflict severe pain on his opponent. Jack, one of the most recognizable robots in video games, is shown in his latest iteration, presumably Jack-8 after being upgraded in each of the previous episodes, sporting brand new armor and what appears to be a huge railgun. Its inclusion was almost forgotten, with tekken 4 being the only game not to feature a playable version of Jack.

As for when they debuted, Lars Alexandersson is chronologically the most recent character to be confirmed for. tekken 8. Make an original appearance in tekken 6. Lars is Kazuya Mishima’s half-brother and an illegitimate son of Heihachi Mishima. He quickly established himself as one of the main protagonists of tekken 6 as well as its sequel. He’s shown in the new trailer hitting Jack-8 with several hard-hitting combos. Fan-favorite wrestler King is also back, sporting a similar outfit to previous outings, and his involvement ensures he’s another character who’s appeared in every episode (although it’s actually his second iteration, with the first version of King having died at the hands of Ogre before Tekken 3).

Although there still appears to be no sign of Heihachi Mishima after his supposed death during Tekken 7At the climax, a return of the franchise’s main antagonist in some capacity still shouldn’t be ruled out at this point. If that indeed turns out to be the case, developer Bandai Namco will surely be looking to keep its inclusion a secret for as long as possible. The stage is set for the eighth release of the King of Iron Fist Tournament, and Harada promised fans “something big” in February 2023. Fans are hoping that could be a release date with new images and details. , but for now all they can do is be patient.

tekken 8 is in development for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
