5 Things To Do After Beating Ghostbusters: Spirits Are Going Wild

Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed is an asymmetrical multiplayer game that centers on a team of four Ghostbusters taking on a single-player Spirit. While many multiplayer games have some form of lore or story, Spirits Unleashed takes it a step further and implements a short story in the form of occasional cutscenes. Progressing through the story and unlocking new cutscenes can only occur after repeatedly completing matches in the game’s multiplayer.

Once you’ve finished the story, there are no more cutscenes or story prompts left to keep pulling you in – so what can you do when you’ve finished the game? Let’s take a look at what’s left of the ghosts and ghosts that await you on your anti-ghosting (or haunting) adventure.

5/5 Keep leveling up

You’ll upgrade your busters and ghosts long after you’ve completed the main story. For both parties, leveling up has the main benefit of unlocking entirely new items, upgrades, or characters. There are four types of ghosts that each have different variants or subtypes. Leveling up a single type of ghost will help you unlock the next globe of goo that will help you haunt buildings. You’ll want to test out each ghost, as there are four main types and several subtypes available to unlock.

The Ghostbusters work a little differently. Every item you have access to, except secondary gadgets, has the ability to unlock variants that fundamentally change your playstyle and gear. You upgrade each piece of gear by using it repeatedly, so it will take a decent amount of time to unlock all of the available variants and secondary gear after completing the story.

4/5 Play around with item customization

The basic gear set you are offered at the start of the game is all you technically need to take down ghosts, but there are plenty of other options to experiment with and explore. The initial gear will help you be a fairly complete Ghostbuster, but you can choose to specialize in one area or another. From tether distance and strength to heat buildup and cooling, there are many options you can take advantage of when experimenting with builds.

If you want to focus on destroying rifts instead of capturing ghosts, you’ll need to reduce your heat buildup, choose attachments that increase rift damage, and be prepared for a potentially grumpy ghost to interrupt your efforts. This is just one way to use item customization to your advantage, but there are many more.

3/5 Change your playstyles

Calm a civilian after being spooked by a haunting.

Once you’ve unlocked all of the item and character customization options, you’ll be able to experiment with a variety of builds or playstyles. It’s important to change up, as every ghost and buster will be different. Your playstyle can be helped by customizing your items, but it’s more about the decisions you make in each game. As Buster, do you want to hunt down the ghost? Find and destroy hidden flaws? Comfort terrified civilians?

As a Ghost, you can attack the Ghostbuster team directly, scare civilians, or sneak around possessing and haunting random items. Every goal and every style will bring you closer to a complete lair. It’s important to think about what style of play best suits the challenge you’re facing. There’s a surprising amount of variety and options available as both Ghost and Buster, so try new things.

2/5 Theme Your character

Although you might not know it, Mario and Luigi spent time trapping ghosts with the rest of the Spirits Unleashed team. Part of the comedic nature of the game is the cartoon characters, animation, and customization options. While it never goes overboard, you can get quite inventive with your customizable character.

There are plenty of hairstyles, outfits, accessories, and other color customization options to help you stand out… or you can create a tribute to a pop culture plumber who moonlights as the savior of the Mushroom Kingdom. . Ghosts can also be slightly customized. Your favorite green ectoplast and goo, Slimer, is even available in the mix.

1/5 Go haunt or bust

Play as a pink ghost flying across the map above ground.

Once the story is complete, the customization items at your disposal, and the types of ghosts unlocked, you have nothing to do but go back there, make new friends and eliminate those ghosts for the greatest pleasure of your heart. If you can scrounge up a friend or two, you can even use the tools you’ve learned here to create a team monster that will make the ghost groan in defeat.

Or… you can use your new found power to haunt wave after wave of hopeful Ghostbusters as you battle your way to victory. Be aware that any enemies you make will soon become your allies as the game has a habit of keeping the game lobby united. Win or lose, you’ll probably end up switching sides, so get ready to haunt, smash and haunt some more.
