About Plastic Surgery

 

Plastic Surgery is a surgical specialty that includes the enhancement or restoration of areas of the face and body.  The word “plastic” is derived from the Greek word “plastikos” meaning to mold or shape.  Plastic Surgery was born from its creative reconstructive procedures and has since grown to include cosmetic procedures. 

 

Abdominoplasty or Tummy Tuck – A surgical procedure to reshape the abdominal skin and/or muscles to restore it to a more aesthetically pleasing appearance.

Arm Lift or Brachioplasty – The reshaping of the arms to reduce excess skin from the armpit to the elbow.

Blepharoplasty or Eyelid Surgery – A surgical procedure to reshape the upper and/or lower eyelids either for aesthetic reasons or to restore function to the upper eyelids.

Breast Augmentation or Bilateral Augmentation Mammoplasty – The placement of a prosthetic implant to the breast to increase the size to a more aesthetically pleasing appearance.

Breast Lift or Mastopexy – A cosmetic procedure to reduce excess sagging skin of the breast in an effort to lift them to a more aesthetically pleasing appearance.

Breast Reduction or Reduction Mammoplasty – A reconstructive procedure to reduce enlarged breasts to a more functional size and shape.

Breast Reconstruction – A reconstructive procedure to restore the breast shape and/or form most commonly performed following surgical removal of the breast from cancer.

Brow LiftA surgical procedure to restore the elevation of the brow either for cosmetic appearance or for functional purposes.

Burn Wounds – Reconstructive process to restore damaged skin due to burn damage.

Buttock Augmentation and/or Lift – A cosmetic procedure to enhance the size and/or shape of the buttock for a more aesthetically pleasing appearance.

Calf Implant – A cosmetic procedure to augment the size of the area of the calf to a more aesthetically pleasing appearance.

Chin Augmentation or Genioplasty – A surgical procedure to create a more aesthetically pleasing appearance of the chin either by use of an implant or advancing the jawbone.

Cheek Augmentation – a cosmetic procedure to augment the area of the cheek by use of an implant, artificial fillers, or fat injections.

Chemical Peel – A cosmetic procedure to reduce the appearance of acne scars, fine lines and wrinkles by the use of a topical chemical.

Congenital Deformities: Cleft Lip/Palate, Craniosynostosis, Cruzon Syndrome – Reconstructive procedures to restore the functionality of the face such as the mouth, cheeks, chin, nose, eyes, ears, and skull. 

Dermabrasion -  a surgical procedure to resurface the skin to reduce the appearance of scars, and/or wrinkles.

Facelift or Rhytidectomy – A cosmetic procedure to remove signs of aging in the face such as wrinkles, sagging jowls, and cheeks.

Facial Fillers: Collagen Injections, Botox – Temporary artificial fillers commonly injected to areas of the face to reduce the signs of aging.

Facial Fractures – Reconstructive surgery to address fractures of the face due to trauma.

Fat Injections – The process of harvesting fat from one area of the body and grafting it to another area to either restore or enhance for aesthetic purposes.

Gynecomastia or Male Breast Reduction – A surgical procedure to reduce the size of enlarged male breasts.

Hair Restoration – A procedure to restore areas of the scalp due to hair loss.

Hand Surgery – Procedures to restore function to areas of the hand due to injury or chronic diseases of the hand and/or wrist.  Cosmetic procedures of the hand include fat injections and skin resurfacing.

Labiaplasty and/or Vaginoplasty – Plastic Surgery procedures to restore areas of the vagina either for aesthetic appearance or functionality.

Laser Resurfacing – A procedure to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, acne scars, freckles, and fine lines through the use of laser technology.

Lip Augmentation – A cosmetic procedure to enhance the appearance of the lips by use of an implant, fat injections, or temporary fillers.

Liposuction – A cosmetic procedure to remove unwanted areas of fat.

Neck Lift – A cosmetic procedure to remove and reduce sagging skin and excess fat of the neck.

Otoplasty or Ear Pinning Surgery – A surgical procedure to reduce the size and/or projection of the ears.

Rhinoplasty and/or Septoplasty -  A surgical procedure to alter the appearance of the nose to a more aesthetically pleasing appearance and/or to restore function to the nose.

Scar Revision – A surgical procedure to revise an existing scar in an effort to create a more aesthetically pleasing appearance.

Thigh Lift -  A surgical procedure tighten the thigh area by removing excess skin and fat.
